On Tuesday, November 29, at 6 p.m. in Aula 3 of the Sant'Anna School, Emanuele Felice, professor of Economics of Culture and Economic History at IULM University in Milan, will present his new book "La Conquista dei Diritti. Un’idea della storia", published by Il Mulino. Participating in the discussion are Giovanni Dosi, professor of Economic Policy, and Alessandro Nuvolari, professor of Economic History, both from the Institute of Economics at the Sant'Anna School, along with Ilaria Pavan, from the Scuola Normale Superiore. Gea Scancarello, journalist for La7, will moderate the event.

The book addresses a reflection on the meaning of human history, according to Emanuele Felice to be found in the progressive extension of human rights. The process was made possible by the encounter during the twentieth century between liberalism and socialism in the framework of the democratic state, and similarly today, in the globalized world, both must meet with environmentalism. The outcome is not a foregone conclusion, but rereading human history from this perspective it becomes clear that liberalism, socialism and environmentalism, in order to meet the challenges we face, can and must complement each other.
